When any Tag is registered into a Historian module to record the value over time or events, it becomes a Historian Tag. This page will show you how to configure a new Historian Tag and the properties available.
On this page:
Historian Tags are used when you need to archive data, especially when dealing with process control and manufacturing. You have the option to archive the following Historian Tag types:
When you use Historian Tags, you archive data by associating information with specific tags and tables. In other words, you establish a link between Tags and Historian Tables to ensure systematic and organized data storage. You can also archive Template Tags. For this case, you can specify one of the Template Tag's properties or archive all properties by entering only the primary Tag name.
To utilize Historian Tags, you need to define which Tags are associated with each Historian Table.
Before setting Historian Tags, you need to configure the Historian Tables. However, you can use the default one (Table 1).
After configuring the Historian Tables, you can start defining which Tags to archive with the configured Historian Tables. To add and configure a single Tag, follow the steps below:
Only the Tag Name and Historian Table fields are mandatory. |
The image below illustrates the process described above.
When configuring a Historian Tag, you need to specify some properties that will define how data will be archived. The following table describes each available property you can configure:
Property | Description |
---|---|
Tag Name | Specify the unique identifier of the Tag to be archived. To archive Template Tags, specify one of the Template Tag's properties or archive all properties by entering only the primary Tag name. |
Dead Band | (Optional feature) Defines how much the value must change (in Units) for the system to store the value. This configuration is considered when you use the Save on Change option in the Historian Table. |
Deviation | (Optional feature) Specify how much the value must change (in Units) for the system to store the value. This configuration is considered when you use the Time DeadBand option in the Historian Table. If you define this property, its value overrides the Time Deadband logging interval. |
Rate Of Change | (Optional feature) Defines how much the value must change (in Units) by second for the system to store the value. This configuration is considered when you use the Time DeadBand option in the Historian Table. If you define this property, its value overrides the Time Deadband logging interval. |
Deviation Dead Band Type | (Optional feature) Determines the calculation method used to define the deadband value. |
HistorianTable | Select the Historian Table to use when saving the Tag's value. |
