Also called Broadcom Numbering (BCM), this refers to the logical pin number based on the Raspberry Pi's Broadcom chip schematic. For example, physical pin 3 might be identified as GPIO2 on the BCM schematic. (refer to Raspberry Pi device documentation to more information)
